Don’t Call My Kid Chubby!

Chubby Children
While picking up my grandchildren from school the other day I couldn’t help notice how many children were overweight.  As I looked in great disbelief, I thought to myself, “ OMG, these children are the future of our nation” How scary is that!?

Fast food, processed food, the absence of family dinners, video games, a decrease in physical education programs and high prices at the grocery store are just some of the factors that contribute to the obesity in children.

More than 65% of the US adult population is considered overweight or obese—and about 17%  or 12.5 MILLION are children.

Most overweight children have overweight parents with poor eating habits which reflect the same behavior onto their children. How do we change the attitudes of the parents to realize their behaviors affect the future health and well- being of their children. How do we make them ”care”?

Higher body weight is associated with increased risk of hypertension, insulin resistance, heart disease and type 2 diabetes, just to name a few.  Is this what we want for our children? I SAY, NO!

There are so many weight loss programs available but what is needed are programs like the Genetix Program that will educate, support, address behavior modification,  have the support of physicians, and teach the entire family how to get healthier.

So, when a parent says “Don’t call my kid chubby” and defends them, maybe what they should do is defend them against obesity instead.

Genetix Program’s team of doctors, certified counselors/trainers and nutritionists can help you and your family learn how to make healthier lifestyle choices through daily phone coaching. You can do it and we can help!
