The Genetix program is life changing. As an Emergency Medicine Physician I see the long term complications of obesity that lead to Diabetes, Coronary and Vascular disease issues to name a few. Knowing and understanding these risks however does not make weight loss any less difficult. For those who have never had a weight problem they cannot imagine the difficulty of shedding those unwanted pounds and their impact on self image and the emotional pain it causes.

My name is Dr. Nina Elliott and I've been on the Genetix Program since November 2011. The first time I became aware of the program was at my job as an emergency medicine physician. Often, to de-stress, the nurses (and Docs!) eat 'not so healthy food' at work and when they get home. This sets up an interesting cycle of eating junk, but being preoccupied with dieting!

One day, I heard a couple of the nurses talking with each other about their success on a new program they were on; they were excited because it was the first time they had lost weight and been able to maintain it easily. When they started to talk about what they had learned regarding proper nutrition, and how their mindset on food was starting to change, my interest was peaked. So I asked about the program.

Immediately, I was impressed by the focus on nutrition and the research that had gone into developing a sensible program that would appeal to ANYONE of ANY background, culture, educational level, career or level of health. I also liked the fact that you didn't have to buy pre-packed food or go to meetings-you were responsible for calling your counselor daily. Still, I felt I could probably loose weight on my own if I was just more disciplined about my eating.

As you might have guessed, I couldn't loose the weight on my own. One of my problems was that I had never been 'taught' by my parents (or anyone else) about proper nutrition and developing good eating habits. Even in medical school, the focus on 'nutrition' and the body was at the molecular level-how the body's cells use and store energy. That's probably why most physician's are good at telling their patients to loose weight, but are lousy at telling them how.

So, I took the plunge and I haven't looked back since! By my 50th birthday in April of 2012, I had lost 12 pounds, but more importantly, I had learned how to maintain it in a healthy way without starving or denying myself. What a great birthday present! Since then, I have lost additional weight and reached my 'goal zone' easily.

I encourage anyone who is interested in losing weight safely and sensibly, while learning that proper nutrition doesn't mean eating 'rabbit food and granola bars' (as a friend told me), to check out the Genetix Program.
